Carew Drives in Both Runs as Baseball Shutouts Penn State Abington

AMBLER, Pa. – The Arcadia baseball team shutout Penn State Abington Saturday, 2-0. Junior Sean Carew drove in both runs for the Knights.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • The Scarlet and Grey improved to 12-5 on the year.
  • The Nittany Lions dropped to 8-7
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Carew drove in sophomore Phil Pierfy with a sac fly to left field in the bottom of the fourth.
  • The Knights struck again in the bottom of the seventh, when Carew singled up the middle to plate senior Nick Cardace.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Arcadia plated its two runs with six hits.
  • Six different players registered a hit.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Sophomore Jeremy Sabthne (2-0) tossed seven innings, allowing three hits and striking out five. Junior Nick Roda threw a perfect eighth inning, before senior Connor Laigaie picked up his fourth save of the season.
UP NEXT:
  • The Knights return to action Monday afternoon, when they host Messiah in a MAC Commonwealth twinbill. Game one is set to begin at noon.
