Benites, Hutson Each Score 100th Career Goal as Women’s Lacrosse Cruises Past Alvernia, 18-5

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Seniors Allegra Benites and Nicole Hutson each scored their 100th career goal Wednesday night as the Arcadia women's lacrosse team cruised past Alvernia, 18-5.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • Arcadia advances to 7-5 on the season with a 2-2 MAC Commonwealth mark.
  • Alvernia falls to 0-11 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
COACH SAYS:
  • "We had a lot of contributors today, which was great to see," said head women's lacrosse coach Sam Hosford. "The team as a whole worked well together and pulled off a fantastic win."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights ripped off a 12-0 run to end the first half, coming from four different scorers. Benites led the pack with four, while both Hutson and sophomore Julia Imbert scored three, and sophomore Victoria Mollitor added two.
  • The Scarlet and Grey added six more in the second half, off the sticks of five different scorers. Freshman Michaela Ferlow recorded two goals, while Benites, sophomores Shannon Ryan, Jess Kaye, and freshman Courtney Eidle all netted one.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Benites and Ryan lead all scorers with six points each. Benites scored five goals and one assist, while Ryan assisted on five and netted one.
  • Imbert added five points off the bench, with three goals and two assists.
  • Hutson finished with four points from three goals and one assist. The senior also caused six turnovers, corralled six ground balls, and won three draw controls.
  • Kaye registered three points, feeding two assists and scoring one goal.
  • Sophomore Molly Naylor earned the victory with five saves. 
GAME NOTES:
  • Benites and Hutson become the 10th and 11th players in program history to score 100 career goals.
  • The win marks the first time the Knights have taken down Alvernia since 2009.
  • Ryan now sits in sole possession of third place all-time with 73 assists.
  • Hutson moves into sixth in program history for ground balls (145) and third for caused turnovers (76).

  • Arcadia heads on the road Saturday as it takes on Hood. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
