WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Arcadia softball team took a pair of conference contests from Lycoming Saturday, claiming game one, 1-0, and game two, 13-2. Juniors
Jackie Bilotti and
Kristin Cancelliere led the way for the Knights, each going 3-for-7 on the day.
FOR THE RECORD:
- The Scarlet and Grey jumped to 12-12 on the year, with an 8-4 conference mark.
- The Warriors hold a 7-17 record on the season and are 1-7 in the MAC Commonwealth.
GAME ONE: ARCADIA 1, LYCOMING 0
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sophomore Hunter Schantz plated the Knights' run in the top of the fourth with a single through the left side that brought Cancelliere in from third.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Cancelliere went 2-for-3 in the game with a double.
- Schantz and freshmen Alex DeStafano and Alexis Burge each had one base hit.
IN THE CIRCLE:
- Sophomore Mary Pat Murray (6-6) struck out two over seven innings.
- Rachel Shady (3-9) allowed one run on five hits in her seven innings of work.
GAME 2: ARCADIA 13, LYCOMING 2
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights plated five runs in the top of the third inning. Bilotti started the scoring with an RBI double to left center to bring in DeStefano one at-bat before Cancelliere crossed the dish as Burge reached on an error. Sophomore Hayley Friess sent a two-run double to left center to bring in Burge and Schantz.
- Sophomore Julia Gessner put the Scarlet and Grey up, 6-2, with a pinch hit, solo home run in the top of the sixth.
- Seven more runs crossed the plate in the top of the seventh. With the bases loaded and no outs, Schantz sent a bases-clearing double down the left field line. After pinch runner sophomore Ashton Evans moved to third on a passed ball, Friess drove her in with a single to left. Freshman Jackie Zwicker then scored on a wild pitch, before sophomore Bekah Good and Bilotti hit back-to-back RBI singles.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Bilotti powered the offense by going 3-for-5 in the game with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
- Freiss and Murray each went 2-for-3.
- Freiss and Schantz each drove in three runs.
- Cancelliere, Schantz and Friess had a double each.
IN THE CIRCLE:
- Sophomore Kylee Schwind (6-3) allowed two runs while fanning five batters over seven innings.
- Liz Nace (2-8) allowed five runs on five hits in 2.1 innings. Shady was tagged for eight runs (four earned) on eight hits in 4.2 innings of relief.
NOTES:
- Schantz and DeStefano are on matching five-game hit streaks.
- Bilotti now has a team-leading 10 multi-hit games on the year.
