Benites, Hutson Lead Women’s Lacrosse to Rout of Lycoming on Senior Day to Clinch the Four Seed in MAC Commonwealth Championships

GLENSIDE, Pa – Seniors Allegra Benites and Nicole Hutson combined for 12 points on Senior Day as Arcadia women's lacrosse took down Lycoming, 20-12, Saturday afternoon. The win locked the Knights into the number four seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championships.

FOR THE RECORD:
  • Arcadia finishes the regular season with a 10-7 record and 5-3 mark in the MAC Commonwealth.
  • Lycoming drops to 6-10 and 3-5 in the conference.
COACH SAYS:
  • "I felt that we were able to get a good groove going today on the field," said head women's lacrosse coach Sam Hosford. "We finally played to our potential and it was a great win to get us in a good position for playoffs."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights took the lead four times before sophomore Victoria Mollitor's trio of goals gave them the lead for good at 7-5. Benites (4), Hutson (2), sophomores Shannon Ryan (2), Julia Imbert (1) and Jess Kaye (1) swelled the lead to 13-6 at the half.
  • Arcadia scored five of the next six goals in the second half. Ryan paved the way with two goals, while Imbert, Benites, Hutson, Kaye and senior Marie Brockman all had one.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Benites tallied seven points with five goals and two assists.
  • Hutson earned five points with a trio of goals and two assists. She also caused three turnovers.
  • Mollitor contributed three points with three goals.
  • Ryan netted four goals, while corralling four draw controls.
  • Brockman registered two points with a goal and an assist, adding six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
  • Sophomore Molly Naylor picked up the victory with nine saves.
GAME NOTES
  • The team set a new single season record for free position goals with 54.
  • Benites now sits ninth all-time in assists (41) and 10th in points (149).
  • The Knights honored their four seniors before the game.
  • Twelve of Arcadia's goals were unassisted.
UP NEXT:
  • Arcadia will host fifth seeded Stevenson in the first round of the MAC Commonwealth Championships on Monday. The game is slated for 7 p.m.
