GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia women's volleyball team won both of its matches on day two of the 2018 Knight Invitational, to go a perfect 4-0 during the tournament.
With the wins, the Knights improve to 14-4 on the season.
Arcadia 3 Hunter 1 (25-22, 27-25, 18-25, 25-19)
In the Knights' first match of the day, Arcadia escaped a hard-fought first set, winning 25-22 and battled back facing set point in set two, defeating Hunter 3-1.
Down 24-20 in set two, the Knights scored five straight points, to take a 25-24 lead. The run was capped by an
Allison Elechko service ace. The Knights scored the final two points of the set after Hunter tied the score at 25-25, taking set two 27-25.
After losing set three, Arcadia never trailed in set four, cruising to a 25-18 win, and taking the match.
The Knights were paced by Elechko who tallied a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs.
Lauren Enfield led Arcadia with 15 kills.
Emily Eng led the Knights defensively with 21 digs.
Mackenzie Hale chipped in with 10 digs.
Hunter was led by Emily Wasson, who had 11 kills, and Haley Trunkett led Hunter defensively with 11 digs.
The Knights held Hunter to a .129 hitting percentage as a team, and had 57 assists compared to Hunter's 41.
Arcadia 3 Rowan 2 (25-21, 20-25, 19-25, 27-25, 15-13)
The Knights came back trailing 2-1 to win a hard fought match over Rowan in its second game of the day.
After winning set one 25-21, The Knights fell behind 2-1 with Rowan taking set two 25-21 and set three 25-29.
Tied at 9-9 in set four, Arcadia gave itself some breathing room after scoring seven of the next eight points. The run was capped with a kill by
Lizzie Joseph, giving the Knights a 16-10 lead.
Arcadia did not let Rowan back in the set, winning 25-17 to tie the match at 2-2 and force a decisive fifth set.
In the tightly contested fifth frame, the Knights scored three straight points after being down 12-11, to take a 14-12 lead on a block by
Julia Paliwodzinski and
Becca Campf.
Rowan scored the next point making the match a one point contest at 14-13. A kill by Enfield sealed victory for the knights winning set five 15-13.
Elechko and Joseph paced the Knights offensively with 13 kills each while
Maddie Sehrt tallied 12.
Paliwodzinski totaled 53 assists in the win for the Knights.
The Knights are back in action on Wednesday for a conference match with Hood College. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
