GLENSIDE, Pa. --
Josh Scott scored a season-high 25 points, including an 11 for 12 showing at the free throw line, and the Arcadia men's basketball team held off Albright 77-69 on Wednesday evening at Alumni Gymnasium.
Â
Scott's best offensive game of the season helped the Knights improve to 17-3 overall and remain perfect in MAC Commonwealth Play at 11-0. The win was also the 98th in the career of Head Coach
Justin Scott as he closes in on 100 career wins. Albright fell to 5-15 overall and 4-8 in league play.
Â
A slow start offensively for the Knights allowed the Lions to grab and early 14-8 lead following a triple from Samuel Majekodunmi at the 14:36 mark of the first half. The Scarlet & Grey answered with a 14-0 that put them on top 22-14 with 10:04 on the clock.
Â
Two free throws and a layup from
Phil Pierfy were followed by a Scott triple as AU took the lead 15-14.
Da'Kquan Davis came up with a three-point play for an 18-14 lead, then scored in transition and added a pair of free throws to cap the run.
Â
After seeing their lead cut to as few as three points, the Knights surged back in front by 11 (35-24) when Scott split a pair of free throws with 1:26 left in the first half. Arcadia went into the break up 36-31.
Â
A 9-4 run by the Lions to open the second half tied the game at 40-40 at the 16:28 mark. Tied at 45, the Knights got a trey from Scott followed by a runout dunk from
Jon Lott to go up 50-45 with just over 13 minutes to play. The Lions got to within two points (50-48), but pulled no closer as Arcadia managed to keep them at bay the rest of the way.
Â
The Knights set season highs in free throws made (28) and attempted (39) and were +10 in turnover margin. The Lions shot 43.5 percent (27-62) from the floor, but got to the line just 10 times where they shot a woeful 4 for 10. Albright held a 41-38 edge on the glass.
