GLENSIDE, Pa. – The No. 14 Arcadia University women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker to Albright College, 2-1, Saturday afternoon. The Knights surrendered a goal in the first 13 seconds and the final three seconds of the game.
After nearly connecting on several scoring opportunities, the Knights finally cracked the scoreboard with 40 seconds remaining in regulation.
Kayla Murphy found the head of
Erin Vander Plaat on a corner kick for the equalizer. However, Albright would earn a corner kick of their own and net the game-winner on the ensuing scrum.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Albright struck early with a goal in the opening minute. Following the opening draw, Lauren Haley carried the ball to the left side of the box and fired a shot on goal. Jillian Lapidus gathered the far-side rebound and tipped it home for the opening tally. Both attempts marked the Lions only shots of the first half.
- The Knights had several quality chances in the opening half, but couldn't find the back of the net. Arcadia outshot the Lions 11-2 in the first 45 minutes of action.

Mackenzie Hoffman had an excellent scoring opportunity following a strike from midfield. Hoffman made an excellent move on her defender, but fired the shot just high.
- Moments later, the Knights had another chance when Vander Plaat's header was stopped by the Lions' keeper.
Karlie Flowers then missed high on a second chance rebound in the 63
rd minute.
- Vander Plaat provided the equalizer in the final minute of play with a header, following a corner kick from Murphy. Vander Plaat charged towards the right side of the box and played the ball to the middle of the goal. However, the Lions were able to answer quickly following a corner kick of their own when a loose ball found the foot of Lauren Haley.

- The Knights attack controlled most of the action, outshooting the Lions 28-4.
- Despite outshooting Albright by a considerable margin, Arcadia struggled to register shots on goal. The Knights held a slim 7-4 advantage over the Lions, whose only four shots were on goal.
- The Knights attempted seven corner kicks, while the Lions earned one.
