CHESTER, Pa. - The Arcadia University field hockey team was locked into a defensive battle Saturday afternoon at Widener in a highly-impactful game in terms of the MAC Commonwealth postseason picture, but the Knights fell victim to the game-winning goal with under four minutes remaining in a 1-0 Pride victory.
Ashton Evans kept the Knights in the game all afternoon with a game-high six saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights were held without a shot in the opening quarter of the game while Evans made a pair of saves on both shots she faced. Despite being outshot, 9-2, in the first half, the Knights were able to keep the Pride off the board as the two sides went into the break scoreless.
-All three of the Knights' penalty corners came in the third quarter while limiting the Pride to only two shots and one corner in the period. Twp of the three Knight corners were followed by shots, but chances from
Sydney Cyr and
Isabelle Houser were off the mark.
-Still scoreless heading into the final 15 minutes of regulation, Widener broke through with 3:50 remaining in the fourth with the eventual game-winning goal. Cyr was able to get a shot off with 30 seconds remaining, but it sailed wide as Widener escaped with the 1-0 victory.

TEAM COMPARISON
-The Knights were outshot 15-6 on the afternoon and the Pride also held an 8-3 edge in shots on goal.
-Arcadia was limited to three penalty corners while the Pride finished the day with five.
