Men's Basketball Downs Susquehanna in Season's First Road Test, 75-65

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Da'kquan Davis dropped a season-high 34 points to lead the Arcadia University men's basketball team to its third-straight victory - and first road win - to open the 2019-20 season with a 75-65 defeat of Susquehanna Wednesday night. The Knights outscored the River Hawks 24-14 over the final 7:42 of regulation to seal the non-conference road win after the two sides went into halftime deadlocked at 30-all.

Davis finished the night 18-of-19 from the free throw line and Steve Pendleton poured in 16 points in the effort, marking his third-straight game in double-figures to open the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The River Hawks started the game on an 11-2 run over the first five minutes and held the lead for 18-plus minutes of the opening half. Trailing by seven with three minutes left in the first, the Knights with five points in under a minute from Pendleton before a Davis free throw and conversion on a floater in the paint gave Arcadia its first lead of the night with 43 seconds remaining in the half, 28-27. 

-Entering the second half tied at 30, the Knights and River Hawks stayed within three points of each other for the first six minutes but Susquehanna never relinquished the lead. A Pendleton three at the 7:42 mark to tie the game at 51 sparked the Knights to take control down the stretch, as a 9-0 run led by field goals from Pendleton, Justin Money and Will Derr put Arcadia up six with just over five minutes left.

-Davis was a pefect 11-for-11 from the line over the final 4:53 of the game as the Arcadia defense locked in to limit Susquehanna to only two field goals over the same strech to come away with the ten-point victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-After shooting 8-for-23 (34.7%) from the field in the first half, Arcadia rebounded to shoot an even 50 percent (11-22) in the second half.
-The difference-maker in the game came from the charity stripe, as the Knights finishing the night 34-for-37 (91.9%) from the line, including a near-perfect 21-for-22 showing in the second half.
-The Knights had 30 points in the paint and scored 18 on fastbreak opportunities.
