Women's Basketball Fends off Late Cabrini Rally to Take Opening Game of Cabrini University Classic

RADNOR, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's basketball team fended off a late Cabrini rally to pick up its fourth-straight victory in the opening game of the Cabrini University Classic Monday afternoon, 50-47. Taylor Dunn posted a game-high 22 points to pick up her 1,000th career point as an Arcadia Knight – becoming the fifth in program history to do so – while Taylor Fritz went for 11 points and 11 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season.

Dunn has now reached double-figure scoring in 11 of the team's first 12 games this season, while Monday's 22-point effort marked her seventh game of 20 or more points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Arcadia and Cabrini both got off to slow starts offensively in the first quarter, as both sides remained scoreless for nearly the first three minutes of the contest. The Knights eventually got into a rhythm as five different scorers powered a 12-0 run while Arcadia held Cabrini to one free throw and zero field goals in the opening period to take a commanding lead.

-The Knights continued to apply pressure on the Cabrini defense in the second quarter, as Dunn poured in nine of Arcadia's 13 points, which included a Haley Still three to reach a game-high 17-point lead at the 2:26 mark of the second quarter. Arcadia ended the half with a 15-point, 25-10 lead.

-Cabrini fought its way back into the game with a 23-12 advantage in the third quarter, due in large part to shooting 52.9 percent (9-17) from the field while holding the Knights to 30 percent (3-10). The Cavaliers nearly erased the 15-point deficit and got within two with 41 seconds remaining in the quarter, but were unable to secure its first lead of the afternoon.

-A 9-4 Cabrini run to open the fourth quarter saw the hosts take its first lead of the game at 42-41 with just under five minutes remaining in regulation, but the Knights scored nine of the game's final 14 points to retake the lead and fend off a hard-charging Cavalier squad late. Fritz's jumper to complete her double-double at the 3:55 mark swung the lead back to Arcadia as the Knights would go on to lead the rest of the way in their fourth-straight win.

KNIGHT LEADERS
-Points: Dunn 22, Fritz 11, Cyr 8

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

-Arcadia forced 16 Cabrini turnovers and turned those chances into 17 points.
-The Knights held Cabrini without a field goal in the first quarter as the Cavaliers finished the opening ten minutes 0-17 from the field. Arcadia also limited host Cabrini to 19 percent (4-21) from beyond the arc.
