MARIETTA, Ohio -- The Arcadia men's basketball team's historic season came to an end in the Second Round of the Division III NCAA Tournament on Saturday night. The Knights fell at No. 22 Marietta 88-76.

Arcadia wraps up the season with an overall record of 23-6, and new high water mark for single season wins. The Knights also set a program-best this season with 12 straight wins, captured the first-ever conference title in program history and made the first trip to the NCAA Tournament in program history. Along the way, they became the second men's program at Arcadia to capture at MAC Commonwealth title (baseball) and the third men's team to play in the NCAA Tournament.

Da'Kquan Davis, the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year, led four Knights in double figures with 16 points.
Steve Pendleton chipped in 13 points off the bench, and seniors
Phil Pierfy and
Josh Scott scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, in their final games in the Scarlet & Grey.

The tide turned in the first half when the 22nd-ranked Pioneers used a 24-12 run over an 8:10 stretch to extend their lead from 22-21 to 46-30 with 1:15 left in the first half.
Evan Slone had knocked down a pair of free throws and Pierfy followed with a triple that pulled the Knights to within one with 9:12 left in the half before the Pioneers' run.

Marietta hit 8 of 12 shots during the game-altering stretch, getting contributions from six different players, and limiting AU to 4 of 9 shooting with four turnovers. The Knights trailed 48-34 at the break.

In the second half, the Pioneers scored the first five points to take a 53-34 lead, and their advantage hovered around 20 points the majority of the final 20 minutes. A late 14-7 run by the Knights trimmed their deficit to 10 points (82-72) following a
Kyle Reilly triple with 1:16 left, but the Pioneers got a trey from Anthony Wallace on the ensuing possession and held off AU down the stretch.

Arcadia held the Pioneers to 41.7 percent (25-60) shooting for the game, but Marietta hit on nine three-pointers while AU converted just four triples on the night. In a tightly-contested game that featured 57 combined fouls, Marietta shot 78.4 percent (29-37) from the line, while AU was 22 of 35 (.629) at the stripe. The Pioneers also held a 42-29 edge on the glass, including 16-6 on the offensive end.

Scott added five assists, four rebounds and two steals for the Knights. Davis and Pierfy each pulled down six boards. Seven seniors, Reilly, Scott, Pierfy, Slone,
Jon Lott,
Jordan Sanders and
Jason Rivera suited up in an Arcadia uniform for the final time.

Wallace led Marietta with 20 points and added seven rebounds. Caleb Hoyng scored 15 points with six boards, and Keith Richardson scored 13 points. Kyle Matoszkia pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.
