Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Career-Firsts For Mannato, Gubler Carry Women's Soccer Past Cabrini

GLENSIDE, Pa. - Megan Mannato recorded her first-career hat trick and Taylor Gubler netted her first collegiate goal in part of a season-high, five-goal night for the Arcadia University women's soccer team to run its win streak to three with a 5-1 victory over visiting Cabrini (3-1). Karlie Flowers also found the back of the net in the effort (5-0-1) as the Knights remained unblemished at Jean Lenox West Field the season.

Julia Mendez picked up her first career victory in net with a scoreless second half between the pipes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights came out with a balanced offensive attack from the onset of the match, as Sarah Walsh had a go on net in the second minute from the top of the 18, but sailed wide right. Just moments later, Kayla Murphy sent the first Arcadia corner to center of the box where it was met by a Riley Nyhus header, but the Cabrini keeper was there to make the save.

-The Cavaliers - after beginning a majority of the match in their own third - started the scoring in the tenth minute on an Alex Garces shot from 25 yards out that landed just above the outstretched arm of a leaping Gabby Green. The goal was the Knights' first allowed since Sept. 1 against Montclair State, a streak that spanned 365 minutes.

-Taylor Gubler provided the equalizer in the 30th minute - the first of her collegiate career - after receiving a perfectly placed ball from Amanda McHugh to the left edge of the 18 where the freshman buried it in the upper left 90 of the net with a right-footed strike.

-Megan Mannato made sure the 1-1 tie was short-lived, as four minutes into the second half the junior took possession just inside the Cabrini third and carried the ball down the right side to the end line before lofting a high-arcing shot over top of the outstretched Cabrini keeper to give the Knights a 2-1 lead.

-Mannato was only getting started in the final 45, as she netted her second and third goals of the night at the 56th and 61st minutes, respectively, to complete the first hat trick of her career. Mannato made a move to cut to her left and shake a defender before burying a right-footed shot just beneath the crossbar prior to beating the Cavalier keeper to the ball at the edge of the 18 and sending it to the back of the net a mere five minutes later.

-The Knights capped the second half outburst with its season-high fifth goal of the night after Eva Ruppersberger was awarded a free kick from 25 yards out and sent a ball into the box headed for the far post that was met in front of the net by Karlie Flowers who sent it past the keeper for her first of the season.
