Field Hockey's Late Comeback Falls Short at Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey team suffered a heart-breaking loss, 4-3, after a late fourth quarter comeback at Scranton University, Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 3-1 in the fourth quarter, Sydney Cyr lifted the Knights with two late goals. The senior's game-tying score was setup by a Michaela Ferlow penalty corner in the 55th minute.

Carly Flickinger provided the Knights other goal with an assist from Cyr, who ended the afternoon with a game-high five points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the opening half. Scranton dictated the pace of play with a 7-1 shot advantage, which included four shots on goal. Ashton Evans stifled several Royals scoring threats, while Cyr collected a defensive save.

- Scranton netted the opening goal early in the second half. The Royals created traffic in front of Arcadia's goal, which allowed Gracie McClatchy to scoop up the loose ball and beat the Knights for her third tally of the season. Moments later, Shaelin de Wit added on another score, following a scrum in front of the cage.

- The Knights got one back towards the end of the third quarter. Following a penalty corner from Ferlow, Cyr ripped a shot from 10-yards out, which was tipped by Flickinger to make it a 2-1 game. The contest then entered a weather delay, which lasted over 30 minutes.

- After falling behind 3-1 in the fourth quarter, Cyr helped the Knights battle back with her first two goals of the season. The senior defender netted both scores within 1:08 of each other to knot the game at 3-3.

- The Knights comeback fell just short as Nicolette Keale provided the game-winning goal for Scranton with less than 10-seconds remaining in regulation.
