GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team extended its win streak to six in emphatic fashion Wednesday night at Messiah, positing a straight-sets victory before heading into the off-weekend prior to the resumption of MAC Commonwealth play.
Lauren Enfield posted a match-high 14 kills in the effort, paired with 35 assists from
Julia Paliwodzinski to down the Falcons on the road.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights raced out to a 5-1 lead in the first set, but quickly found themselves down a point after Messiah took off on a 5-0 run to lead, 8-7. The two sides traded points in the middle stages of the set before a 7-2 run put the Knights out in front, 22-18. Messiah clawed back to get within two at set point for Arcadia, but
Maddie Sehrt clinched the first set with a kill.
-The second set featured eight ties between the two sides, but the turning point of the set - and ultimately the match - came with the Knights trailing 24-22 and the Falcons eyeing a second-set victory. Instead, the Knights ripped off four-straight points to take a commanding two-set lead thanks to a pair of Sehrt aces to cap off the comeback.
-With all the momentum on their side, the Knights built up a 12-6 lead early in the third set thanks to kills from Enfield, Sehrt and
Kaylee Bumpus. Arcadia led by as much as eight in the set, including winning seven of the final ten points down the stretch to cap off the Knights' sixth-straight victory.
