ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's basketball team clinched the third seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament with a 85-82 victory at Lebanon Valley College in the team's regular season finale. The Knights will travel to second-seeded Albright College in the second round of the MAC Commonwealth Championship on Wednesday at 7PM.
Da'Kquan Davis led the Knights with 37 points and eight assists, while shooting 12-of-19 from the field.
Steve Pendleton collected his third-straight double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while
Justin Money had 10 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Pendleton gave the Knights their first lead of the afternoon with a three-pointer to put the Knights ahead 9-7. Arcadia soon expanded their lead to double figures with a
DJ Gardner three-pointer and two consecutive Davis threes. The Knights then hit their fourth-straight unanswered three-pointer when Money drained a shot from beyond the arc, 24-19.
- The Dutchmen made a run at the end of the first half to cut the Knights lead to single digits, 35-26. Lebanon Valley went in to halftime with a 6-0 run.
- Pendleton opened the second half with a three-pointer to expand the Knights lead to double figures, 38-26. Lebanon Valley shortly answered with a three-pointer of their own, but
Kishan Patel knocked one down from long range to bring the Knights lead back to 10 points.
- Lebanon Valley put together a 6-0 run to pull within two points of the Knights. However, Davis responded with four straight points to build Arcadia's lead to six points, 52-46. Later in the half, the Knights went on a 7-0 run, which was capped off by a Davis three-point play to give themselves a 12 point lead, 62-50.
- The Dutchmen battled back into the game once more with a 6-0 rally, which pulled the team within two points again. Pendleton and Davis responded with consecutive three-pointers to help distance themselves from Lebanon Valley, 78-70.
- Lebanon Valley made a last chance effort to overtake the lead when a Dutchmen layup cut the Knights lead to one point with seven seconds remaining. However, Gardner iced the game with a couple free throws and Arcadia made a stop on the defensive end to seal the victory.
