CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team saw its 2021 season come to an end in Wednesday night's MAC Freedom Semifinals at top-seeded DeSales, falling 3-1 on the road to the host Bulldogs.
Michelle Frank paced the Knights with 11 kills while
Danielle Doyle and
Nicole Dallara followed with ten each in the effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The top-seeded Bulldogs got out to a fast start by earning ten of the first 12 points in the opening set to take a commanding lead. The. Knights would not be deterred, however, cutting the deficit to three at 20-17 following a
Nicole Dallara kill. Dallara's kill ended up sparking a 9-1 run to the end of the set as
Danielle Doyle and
Michelle Frank each produced a pair of kills down the stretch to lift Arcadia to the comeback victory, 25-21.
-The two sides stayed stride-for-stride with each other for the entirety of the second set with neither the Knights nor Bulldogs able to take a clear advantage. A Frank kill drew the two sides even at 19-all and despite kills from Dallara and
Haylee Harper to keep the Knights within reach, the Bulldogs came away with the 25-22 win to even the match.
-The third set had a very similar feel to the second, but the Knights never trailed in the set and led 23-21 with a chance to take the lead in the match. However, DeSales won the final four points of the set to come from behind and steal the third, 25-23.
-DeSales rode the momentum from the third set to take an early seven-point lead in the fourth before a 10-3 run extended its lead to 14. Kills from Harper, Paoli, and Doyle attempted to keep the Knights in the match late, but the Bulldogs went on to complete the four-set victory with a 25-14 win.
