Women’s Basketball Falls at Alvernia, 64-53

READING, PA. - The Arcadia University women's basketball team fell to Alvernia University, 64-53, on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Wolves were propelled to victory by a pivotal third quarter where they outscored the Knights 24-7 to flip the game's momentum.

Julia Makowski and Scarlett Glasser-Nehls paced the Knights offense with 15 points to lead the team. Makowski also grabbed 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Quinlyn Fisher put together a strong performance off the bench with eight points in 12-minutes of action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alvernia jumped out to a 12-6 lead in the first quarter. The Knights chipped away at its deficit late in the opening stanza as Makowski pulled Arcadia within one point with a three-pointer. Maria Tuilley then gave the Knights a one point lead on the following possession, but Alvernia regained the lead right before the buzzer, 16-15. 

- The Knights took a halftime lead as they outscored the Golden Wolves 16-11 in the second quarter. After falling behind early, Arcadia ended the final four minutes of the half on a 12-3 run. Quinlyn Fisher scored six-straight Arcadia points to even the score, while Makowski added a three-pointer and a layup to put the Knights ahead by five points. The Knights went into the half with a 31-27 advantage. 

- The Golden Wolves outscored the Knights 24-7 in the third quarter. Alvernia evened the score with a 6-2 run to open the stanza. After a couple lead changes, Alvernia ended the quarter on a 14-1 run in the last five minutes, 51-38.

- Arcadia battled back with an 8-0 run at the start of the fourth quarter as they pulled within seven points. Makowski and Glasser-Nehls combined for all eight points during the two-minute stretch. The Knghts pulled within six points, but could not overcome a challenging third quarter.
