Men's Basketball Falls to Lycoming in Title Game Rematch, 72-68

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's basketball program came up short on the road Thursday night at Lycoming in a rematch of last year's MAC Commonwealth title game, as the Warrirors outlasted the Knights in a wire-to-wire contest, 72-68. Jalen Watkins played a big role off the bench for the Knights in the effort, logging 16 points and six rebounds in 17 minutes, while Da'Kquan Davis paced the offense with a game-high 26 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights got off to a solid start in the first game of week four's back-to-back, leading 16 of the first 17 minutes of the opening half. Arcadia benefited from six different scorers in the first seven minutes, highlighted by threes from Davis and DJ Gardner, powering the Knights to a nine-point lead.

-The Warrior offense came to life late in the first half to draw even with Arcadia at the three-minute mark before a 6-1 Lycoming run vaulted the hosts to the lead heading into the break, 34-30.

-Lycoming maintained that same lead in the opening stages of the second half, but an 8-0 Arcadia run sparked by a Gardner three gave the Knights a one-point advantage before the two sides traded points back-and-forth. Arcadia and Lycoming found themselves tied at six different points over the course of the final 11 minutes of the second half.

-With 2:36 remaining in regulation, Watkins brought the Knights back into the game with a 6-0 run of his own to draw the two sides even at 61 with 1:34 left on the game clock. Arcadia looked to have a chance to tie or take the lead in the final minute, but Lycoming converted on five of its six free throws at the line to come away with the four-point victory.
