Women's Lacrosse Drops Tightly Contested Game with Ursinus

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team fell in a tightly contested game to Ursinus, 13-9, on Saturday afternoon at Jean Lenox West Field and Delran Pavilion.  

Sarah Morris found the back of the net three times for the Knights in the defeat. The sophomore also recorded seven draw controls and caused one turnover. Ashley Starkey had a game-high four points with two goals and two assists.  

Emily Griffith got the start in goal for Arcadia. She made 15 saves in the game.  

URSINUS 13, ARCADIA 9 
HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Ursinus had a quick start as they scored three goals within the first two minutes of the game. Following an Arcadia timeout, the Knights scored the last two goals of the quarter, to cut their deficit to 3-2 at the end of the first 15 minutes of play.  

  • The Bears scored the first goal of the second quarter, but Arcadia answered with three consecutive goals to take a 5-4 lead. Ursinus ended the quarter on a 2-0 run to take a 6-5 lead going into halftime. 

  • Arcadia tied the game at six just 54 seconds into the third quarter. The teams then traded 2-0 runs to extend the score to 8-8. The Bears scored with 54 seconds left in the frame to take a 9-8 lead into the final quarter.  

  • Ursinus found the back of the net first in the fourth quarter to take a 10-8 lead, but the Knights answered just over a minute later to cut the Bears lead to one. Ursinus scored the final three goals of the game to seal the 13-9 win.
