Women's Lacrosse Drops Conference Game to FDU-Florham
GLENSIDE – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team found itself trailing 8-7 to FDU-Florham, who is receiving votes in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA Division III Poll, with 9:27 remaining in the first half but the Devils finished the game on a 10-0 run to take the game by an 18-7 final in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play on Wednesday evening.
The Knights fell to 4-2 in conference and 7-8 overall with the defeat.
FDU-Florham raced out to a 4-0 lead before
Maddie Ruger scored with an assist from
Hannah McAllister with 10:09 left in the first quarter, followed exactly a minute later by an unassisted score from McAllister.
After the Devils took a 5-2 lead,
Sarah Morris scored back-to-back goals to trim the deficit to 5-4 with 35 seconds left in the first before FDU-Florham finished the scoring with 10 seconds left as the first quarter ended with the Knights trailing 6-4.
Ashley Starkey began the second quarter scoring with 13:24 on the clock, scoring again with 10:35 after the Devils matched her score, and McAllister made the score 8-7 to finish Arcadia's scoring.
Emily Griffith stopped 19 shots in the cage for the Knights.
McAllister led the offense with two goals and one assist for three points while Starkey and Morris each added two goals.
Arcadia returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Stevens for a 7:00 p.m. MAC Freedom game.
