WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's tennis program completed day one of the 2022 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Individual Championship, hosted by King's College and Wilkes University on Saturday.
SINGLES RESULTS
- At No. 1 singles.
Jonathan Noble won in the first round matchup against Eastern's Jacob DeVage 6-4, 6-3 before falling to second-seeded Chase Wilson of Messiah 0-6, 1-6 in the quarterfinals.
- At No. 2 singles, Francis Tamesis fell in his first round match against second-seeded Phil Ritchie from DeSales, 4-6, 0-6.
- At No. 3 singles, Matthew Nagy was bested by top-seeded Philip Szkudlarski 0-6, 0-6.
- At No. 4 singles, Lee Conlu went to overtime with FDU-Florham's Jacob Mostoller, before falling 6-4, 4-6, 7-10.
- At No. 5 singles, Ryan Salmon fell to third-seeded Jonathan Baker of Messiah 0-6, 1-6.
- At No. 6 singles, David Cassel had a bye into the quarterfinals, where he defeated Michael Vogt of Albright 6-2, 7-6 (1), advancing to tomorrow's semifinals.
DOUBLES RESULTS
- At No. 1 doubles, Noble and Tamesis fell to York (Pa.) in a tiebreaker 7-8 (3).
- At No. 2 doubles, Conlu and Nagy were defeated by third-seeded FDU-Florham 1-8.
- At No. 3 doubles, Cassel and Salmon defeated Wilkes 8-5 before battling third-seeded Lebanon Valley, dropping the match 3-8.
UP NEXT
Cassel will return for the semifinals at No. 6 singles, where he will face Karanveer Saini of FDU-Florham for a chance to get to the flight finals tomorrow morning, with play scheduled to resume at 8:00 a.m.
