Women's Swimming Makes Huge Comeback to Beat Widener

Chester, PA - The Arcadia University women's swim team came back to beat Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) competition and Head Coach Aaron Green's alma mater Widener University with a score of 131-129 on Saturday afternoon. The Knights were trailing the entire meet and needed to take first and second in the very last event, the 200-yd freestyle relay, to win.

Coach Green made a game time decision to switch Emily Raedisch and Mikayla Scardino, two of the Knights' leadoff swimmers, in the 200-yd freestyle relay. Raedisch, Sarah Ritter, Grace Brooks, and Claire Hamilton took first with a time of 1:43.87, followed immediately by Scardino, Hannah Daniels, Gigi Brown, and Brooke Boyd just .03 seconds after to secure the team win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Natalie Link cut 13 seconds off of her 1000-yd freestyle from last night's meet for a new season best time. She also touched the wall second in the 500-yd freestyle earning the Knights 4 points.

- Brooks swam the 200-yd freestyle in 2:06.63, just .03 seconds short of her season best time.

- Olivia Hyde almost beat her season best 200-yd butterfly time for a second place finish (2:23.80).

- Ritter touched the wall first in the 50-yd freestyle, just .08 seconds off of her season best time from the Misericordia Invite. She also finished third in the 100-yd freestyle with a time of 57.98

- Katherine Pastva needed a top two finish in the 400-yd individual medley to give the women a chance to win the meet and she successfully beat out one of Widener's swimmers by 4.39 seconds to take second place (5:13.68).

The Knights return to action on February 9th for the first day of the MAC Championships.
