Men's Volleyball Takes Down No. 15 Marymount

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's volleyball team topped No. 15 Marymount on Tuesday night inside Alumni Gymnasium.
 
With the win, the Knights extended their winning streak to six games, and improved their record to 8-5.
 
This is the first win over a ranked opponent for Arcadia since March of 2021.
 
Dylan Zimmerman led the Knights attack with 15 kills. Reigning Middle Atlantic Conference Player of the Week Danny Gonzalez chipped in with 12 kills for the Knights.
 
Vaughn McConnell recorded his third consecutive match of 40-plus assists in the victory. The junior setter finished the match with 41 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED

 
Set 1: Arcadia 25, Marymount 21:
The teams played a close opening stage of the set until Marymount took five straight points, giving it a 14-9 lead. The Knights answered back with a 6-1 run to tie the set at 15. Arcadia closed the set on an 8-3 run to take the opening set and a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
Set 2: Marymount 25, Arcadia 22:
The Knights held an 11-8 lead, but the Saints went on a 10-1 run, taking a 19-12 lead. The Knights battled back with a 5-1 run, and fought off four set points, but Marymount held on to tie the match at one.
 
Set 3: Arcadia 34, Marymount 32:
After a back and forth opening of the set, the Saints built a lead through a 9-4 run, which gave them a 20-15 advantage. The Knights battled back to tie the set at 24. Both teams fought off multiple set points, but the Knights took three of the final four points to regain the lead in the match.
 
Set 4: Arcadia 25, Marymount 23:
Arcadia used its momentum from the previous set to open an early 9-4 lead. Marymount fought back and faced two set points but would never take the lead in the frame as the Knights closed out the victory over their first ranked opponent of the season.
