Experience and Youth Look to Lead Men's Basketball in 2024-25

GLENSIDE - The Arcadia Univesrsity men's basketball team will rely on a mix of youth and experience in 2024-25, bringing back a handful of returners and first-years looking to make an impact.

"It's going to be a unique year for us," sixth-year head coach Adam Van Zelst explained. "We had a lot of returners the past couple of seasons so we knew what we were going into and what we had. With a lot of new turnover we're playing a different style of basketball. I think it's been fun, we have a young group that thoroughly enjoys each other and enjoys playing basketball together. We're just growing day by day and trying to get a little bit better. I think we'll be very athletic. I think we're going to play fast and hopefully we can make enough shots and kind of piece it together."

In the front court, Joshua Okocha returns with 44 starts in his career and a boost in production a season ago. Returning with Okocha down low include Debarrin Norman, Jamal Carr, and Corey Attivo. Jordan Taylor will join them as a first-year.

In the backcourt, Josh Parks saw production gains and will look to make a bigger jump in his third season after providing a scoring spark off the bench a season ago. Returners include Latrell Bullock, Chris Williams, Kahmai Clark, Amyr Walker, Dominic Vazquez, Tymir Smalls, Kyndall Crawford, and Aidan Melograna. Newcomers looking to carve out playing time include transfer Keenan Reiss and first-years Marquis Kubish, Ash Cole III, Jorden Jones, Jamison Lynam, and Alex Hermann.

The Knights, who were picked third in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freeodm (MAC Freedom) Preseason Coaches' Poll, open up the season on Friday when they travel to Gettysburg for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off, with the Knights first home game inside Alumni Gymnasium against Penn State Abington at 3:00 p.m. Conference play starts January 8th at home against DeSales, while the MAC Freedom Tournament commences on February 26th.
