Women's Lacrosse Set for 2024 Season Under New Head Coach Carr

GLENSIDE – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team will kick off the 2024 season after having their first postseason berth since 2018 in the 2023 season. The Knights look to have continued success under first year head coach Adrienne Carr.

"I think putting firm outcome expectations on the team is not something I like to do," explained Carr. "I really like to focus on the process and just learning, getting better, competing in every game and I think if we do that, the outcome will take care of itself."

On attack, the Knights return Tessa O'Donnell, Skylar Acker, Olivia Poley, Gianna DiNofa and Maddie Ruger. Acker and Ruger are coming off of injuries from the 2023 season and look to make a lasting impact in their senior year. O'Donnell looks to continue to contribute to the Knights' success after having 5 goals and 11 ground balls in her sophomore season. Poley returns as one of the top scorers with 20 goals on the 2023 season and DiNofa looks to continue to be a leader on the field for the Knights.

In the midfield, the team returns key players Jordyn Chan, Sarah Morris, Morganne Dee, and Campbell Torrey. Chan started all 17 games as a first-year last season and gained valuable experience to bring to the 2024 season. Morris is coming off of an injury after playing only six games where she acquired 11 goals in 2023. Dee returns as the second highest goal scorer with 50 goals last season, and Torrey led the team in draw controls with 79. These two Knights were also named to the All-MAC Freedom Honorable Mention Team for 2023.

On the defensive end, Second Team All-MAC Freedom goalkeeper Emily Griffith returns after stopping 156 shots on goal last season. Karina Maksym also is back for her third season as a Knight after earning All-MAC Honorable Mention in 2023. Hope Miller returns as one of the leaders in caused turnover with 17 last year. Cameron Curtiss, Mairead O'Connell, Kadey Kreider, Radini Wijesuriya, Natalie Scardino, and goalkeeper Hannah Bergeron also return for another season in the scarlet and grey.

The Knights have one transfer student, Juliane Calalo who joins the team from Jefferson. First-years Kylla Henry, Olivia Forant, Thea O'Connor, Sophia Dwyer, Mackenzie Clark, and goalkeeper Taylor Funcheon all look to make an impact in their first season as Knights.

Arcadia women's lacrosse kicks off its 2024 season Wednesday, February 21st as they head to Widener for a 5:00pm game.
