CLERMONT, Fl. - The Arcadia University softball team kicked off the 2024 season with two wins on day one of its trip to Florida, defeating Wheaton College 7-1 before taking down Gordon College 10-8.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: ARCADIA 7, WHEATON 1

Megan Klose opened the scoring with a three-run homer bringing in
Madi Costigan and
Nathalia DiIanni.
-After Wheaton scored in the fifth, the Knights responded in the sixth when
Sydney Steiner doubled to right scoring
Juliana Presto.
-Arcadia tacked on three more runs int he seventh when Klose knocked a two-run double allowing Costigan and
Allie LaRochelle to score before
Caity Hinton singled to right bringing in Klose.
-Presto earned her first win of the year, allowing one unearned run on four hits in a complete game with 10 strikeouts.

GAME TWO: ARCADIA 10, GORDON 8
-Gordon opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first.
-Arcadia responded with two runs in the bottom half when Costigan scored on a passed ball and DiIanni came home on a sacrifice fly from Klose.
-Costigan added a third run in the second on a single to center scoring
Dakota Fanelli.
-The Knights increased the lead to 4-1 in the third before DiIanni scored on an LaRochelle ground out in the fourth.
-The Fighting Scots took the lead with seven runs in the fifth, going ahead 8-5.
-Fanelli scored on an error in the fifth to start the comeback.
-Costigan stole home to begin the scoring in the sixth.
-Klose followed with a double to right scoring

Alexa Kozarski singled to right bringing in Klose.
-Kozarski finished the scoring when she came home on an unsuccessful double steal attempt.
-Presto earned the win with 2.2 scoreless innings in relief with four walks and four strikeouts.
