Softball Earns First Conference Sweep at Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Arcadia University softball team earned its first Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) sweep of the year on Tuesday, defeating Delaware Valley 3-0 and 5-2 on the road.

FOR THE RECORD
-Arcadia moved to 10-18 overall and 6-4 in conference play.

-Delaware Valley fell to 16-9 and 2-6, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: ARCADIA 3, DELAWARE VALLEY 0
-Taylor Sommer got the Knights on the board in the top of the first when she singled to left scoring Nathalia DiIanni.

-Sommer increased the lead to 3-0 in the third with a two-run single bringing home DiIanni and Stephanie Binek.

-Dakota Fanelli earned the win, allowing four hits in a complete-game shutout with one strikeout.

GAME TWO: ARCADIA 5, DELAWARE VALLEY 2
-Grace Caldwell got Arcadia on the board in the top of the first when she stole third and scored on a throwing error by the catcher.

-Caldwell increased the lead to 2-0 in the second when she singled to right bringing home Sydney Steiner.

-After the Knights increased the lead to 3-0, Alexa Kozarski finished the scoring for Arcadia in the fifth with a two-run double to left plating Caity Hinton and DiIanni.

-Paige Nolan earned her fifth win, allowing one unearned run on four hits in seven innings with one walk and four strikeouts.
