HAVERFORD, PA: (Sept. 5, 2010) - Arcadia University Women's Soccer erased the recent memories of two early season losses with a 5-2 thumping of Rutgers-Camden University (0-3) Sunday afternoon in the consolation game of the Haverford Kick Off Classic at Walton Field. Goal scorer's for the Knights included senior

Brittany Drosdak, Ashley Knueppel, and
Amy Lupfer and first year
Fatima Elmedkhar. Junior
Janelle Jablonski dished out two assists while sophomore keeper
Jackie Law earned the win with 3 saves. Eastern University won the tournament with a 2-0 win over Haverford in the championship game.
RCU's Mary MacDonald tested Arcadia keeper
Jackie Law (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) early, sending in a shot just 45 second into the game, that Law turned aside. Arcadia first year
Emily Proper (Coxsackie, NY/Coxsackie-Athens) lit the spark of the Knight's offense when she forced RCU keeper Kelly Harper to make her first save of the game at 7:05. Minutes later, the Knights lit the scoreboard up for the first of five times Sunday, when senior
Katie O'Malley (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville Area) found the back of the net off a free kick that hit the crossbar, bounced down inside the 6 and tapped in, giving Arcadia the 1-0 lead. The Knights next two shots went high and wide before the Scarlet Raptors's Samantha Sharp scored the equalizer. Sharp stole the ball and dribbled into the box, with her first shot hitting the post, her second hitting the back of the net at 14:48 to knot the score at 1-1.
However, any momentum RCU hoped to gain from Sharp's goal was short-lived as senior
Janelle Jablonski (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) sent a goal line cross that found the foot of junior
Brittany Drosdak (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic). Drosdak volleyed the ball into the left side past Harper for the 2-1 go-ahead tally at 18:24. At 18:49 Arcadia sophomore
Chelsea Brown (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West) and at 22:32 sophomore
Rebecka Shafer (Cleveland, OH/Cuyahoga Heigts) both forced Harper to make saves, keeping the RCU defense working overtime. Again, Jablonski, playing the roll of gift-giver, slotted a clean ball through to junior
Ashley Knueppel (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) who dribbled into the box and put the ball low past Harper at 29:58 for a 3-1 Arcadia lead. Sharp then was able to make contact on a shot for RCU at 42:07, but again Law made the save. Knueppel, Schafer and first year
Sara Volk-Perez (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) tested Harper three more times before the close of the half as Arcadia went into thehalftime leading 3-1 on the scoreboard and 18-5 in shots.
Things continued to go Arcadia's way in the second half as the Knights kept the pressure on the Scarlet Raptor defense with four shots that went high or wide before a pair of first years put together a crafty play.
Shelby Smith (North East, MD/North East) dribbled around an RCU defender and threaded the pass to first year
Fatima Eldmedkhar (Middletown, DE/Middletown) who turned aside another RCU defender and drilled her shot past Harper giving the Knights a 4-1 lead at 54:38. Junior
Stephanie Welch (Port Murray, NJ/Moravian Academy) wanting to get in the offensive blitz, forced Harper into a save at 58:50, then sent a ball just wide at 63:11 before finally settling for the assist on corner opportunity at 68:17 that sailed over Harper's head and tapped in by junior
Amy Lupfer (Andover, NJ/Newton) giving Arcadia a commanding 5-1 lead.
RCU's Christina Vitagliano finally sent a shot in on first year keeper
Katelyn Wellnitz (Kennet Square, PA/Kennet Square), who replaced Law at 58:35, that Wellnitz turned aside. RCU was able to light the scoreboard up one more time when Bec Garretson headed a lofted ball into the twine with 6 seconds remaining in the game but it was too little too late at the Knights walked away winners for the first time this season.
Law, who played 58:35, made 3 saves for her first win of the season while Wellnitz, who played 31:25 made 1 save. The Knights dominated the game outshooting RCU 30-10 and held the 7-0 advantage in corners.
The Knights look to even their early season record when they play their home opener this Wednesday, Sept. 8 hosting the Falcons of Cedar Crest College (0-2) at 4 PM on the new field.
