Arcadia, E'town draw scoreless after double overtime

GLENSIDE, Pa.:  Arcadia University Women's Soccer settled for a tie this afternoon with visiting Elizabethtown College on senior day.  After two halves of regulation and two overtime periods, neither team could light the scoreboard making the Knight's final two league games of critical importance as the team looks to extend the season into the league tournament.

Arcadia (9-4-2, 2-2-1) out-shot the Blue Jays 6-5 for the game and got 5 saves from junior keeper Jackie Law (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) in today's game.

Senior Ashley Knueppel (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) got off two shots on goal, senior Amy Lupfer (Andover, NJ/Newton), sophomores Rachel Dolly (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) and Fatima Elmedkhar (Middletown, DE/Middletown) and first year Kim Canfield (Point Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Beach) each with one but none could find their way past E'town junior keeper Jess Manchak, who finished with 6 saves.

E'town (8-5-2, 2-3-1 CC) out-shot Arcadia 5-1 in the second half, three shots on goal that Law stood tall for, and the game headed for minutes.

First year Nina Barbieri (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) connected on the Knight's lone shot in the first overtime, but it was carried high by the wind.  Canfield got off a great shot 1:15 into the second overtime, but Manchak turned that one aside and one by Knueppel went wide.  E'town managed three shots in the final overtime session, two wide and one blocked by the Arcadia defense.

Prior to today's game, the Knights honored their six graduating seniors: Knueppel, Lupfer, Brittany Drosdak (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic), Ali DiOrio (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro-North), Jessica Leathem (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro-North) and Michelle Zola (harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin)
