ANNVILLE, Pa., Thursday, April 21, 2011-- The Knights traveled to Lebanon Valley College this afternoon for the opener of a three-game series against the Dutchmen. Arcadia fell behind 3-0 after the first inning and wasn't able to recover, falling to LVC 6-2.

Lebanon Valley jumped out to a three run advantage after the first inning, however the Knights would respond with two runs in the top of the third to pull within one run at 3-2. First-year
Patrick Kwiatkowski got the inning started with a lead-off walk, followed by sophomore Brandon Martin being hit by a pitch to put two runners on with zero outs. Each player would come around to score in the inning as Kwaitkowski scored off an RBI single by sophomore Jerry Smith, and Martin scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Kyle Jackson.

The Dutchmen however, made short work of the Knights rally, responding with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third inning to again push their advantage to three, 5-2. Both pitching staffs would settle down, keeping each side scoreless in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings of play. LVC would end the scoreless inning streak in the bottom of the seventh pushing an insurance run across the plate to extend their lead to 6-2, the final score.

First-year Aaron Benusis suffered the loss, giving up six runs, five earned on four hits while striking out eight in 6.1 innings pitched.

The Knights and Dutchmen will return to the field April 23 with Arcadia plays host for the series ending double-header at Erny Field in Philadelphia, Pa. First pitch is set for noon.
