Box Score Glenside, PA (November 20, 2012) - The Arcadia University Knights (2-1) used a 14-0 run in the first half and a 20-8 run early in the second half to take a 26-point lead and never looked back in an 85-65 win over the Drew University Rangers (0-3). This was the Knights second win over Drew in as many games as they defeated the Rangers by 20 on Saturday.
Joe Brown was the star for the Knights, recording his second career double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
The teams played close to the vest in the opening minutes, with Arcadia leading 6-2, 8-5 and 14-10. Drew tied the game at 14 with 11:08 to play in the opening half. The Knights then went on a 14-0 that took nearly four minutes off the clock and gave them a 28-14 lead at the 7:22 mark.
Arcadia continued to hold the lead throughout the half with Drew only getting to within 10 and the Knights leading by as many as 16 points at 42-26 with less than a minute to play. Arcadia took a 42-28 lead into the break.
Brown had 14 first half points and seven rebounds.
Khalief Trawick added 11 points. Chris Capelli led Drew with six points. The Knights shot nearly 53% from the field and held the Rangers to just over 36%. Arcadia doubled up Drew on the boards 24-12 and each team turned the ball over seven times.
The Knights and the Rangers came out and traded baskets but the Knights had a 44-30 lead at 19:25 and turned it into a 64-38 lead, using a 20-8 run to go up by 26 points at the 12:30 mark. Drew tried to hang around, but Arcadia continued to make stops and score and went up by 30 at 74-44 with just over eight minutes to play. The game remained with Arcadia holding a large advantage and the Knights won by the 20-point margin.
Brown was 9-16 from the field ale had an assist and a steal. Trawick added 14 points and six boards, while
Colin McCarthy had 13 points and
Aaron Lee-Webb chipped in with 11 points. Mike Klinger led Drew with 12 points. The Knight shot 53% from the game, while Drew shot 43.6%. Arcadia had the rebounding advantage 46-24, but committed 14 turnovers, while forcing 12.
Arcadia will return to action after an eight lay-off as they host Albright in the MAC Commonwealth opener on November 28th for an 8pm Alumni Gymnasium.
