Women's Lacrosse Falls to Alvernia on the Road

READING, PA:  After Meghan Fallon '13 put the Knights on top 2-0 in the early going of today's non-conference women's lacrosse game, host Alvernia countered to take a 6-3 lead at the half going on to control the second half and hang a 17-4 loss on Arcadia University.

The Knights lost both Fallon and Megan Madison '12 to first half injuries but fought to keep the contest close during the opening thirty.  Up 2-0, the Knights allowed the host Crusaders three unanswered tallies to go ahead 3-2 with 18 minutes remaining in the opening half.

But with the Knight's balanced scoring presence this season, Jaclyn Feffer '15 stepped in and whizzed a shot past Crusader keeper Jenn Czarnecki, knotting the score at 3-all at 14:33.  Two minutes and change later, Alvernia struck again for three straight, two coming from Sam Landis who lead all scorer's on 4 goals, 4 assists and the hosts would hold for their slim 6-3 lead at the break.

Like they have done with great consistancy all season, the Knights regrouped during halftime and came out firing in the opening minute of play to start the second.  Haylee Molloy converted on a free position attempt to bring her squad to within two (6-4) but as quickly as the Knights began their come-back, Alvernia(5-4 overall) ended it, going on to score 11 unanswered to end the game with a 17-4 victory.

Arcadia starting keeper Deanna Thomspon '13 came up with 17 saves through 50:51 played while Amalie Kreitman '13 finished out the contest.

The Knights fall to 3-5 overall, and look to return to winning form when they host Rutgers-Camden University this Monday, April 2 at 4 p.m. on Easton Field.
