Hess’ two goals lead field hockey past Stevenson, 4-2

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Freshman forward Amanda Hess scored her third and fourth goals of the season to help lead the Arcadia University field hockey team to a 4-2 Commonwealth Conference victory over the visiting Stevenson University Saturday afternoon at Easton Field, evening its conference record at 1-1. Both teams are now 7-5 for the season. The Mustangs are now 0-2 in conference games.
 
Hess scored he first goal of the game to tie the match a 2-2 in the 26th-minute, and then buried what proved to be the game-winner in the 61st-minute. She banged home the rebound off junior back Taylor Dalisera's blast from the top of the circle off a penalty corner for her first goal, and then scored off a pass from junior forward/midfielder Debbie Wolfe.
 
Wolfe scored her fifth goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1 in the 12th-minute, and senior back Katrina Dull scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season off a corner in the 63rd-minute to give the Knights a two-goal cushion. Dalisera assisted on both plays, raising her total to five for the season.
 
Caitlin Dempsey scored her 12th-goal of the season just 8:37 into the game to put Stevenson ahead 1-0. Judi Neff scored her second goal of the season in the 16th-minute, putting the Mustangs up 2-1 at the time.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Hodson tallied five saves to earn the win in the cage for the Knights, improving to 1-2 for the season. Gabriella Brooks had seven saves in taking the loss for the Mustangs, dropping her record to 6-5.
 
Arcadia had a 24-13 advantage in shots and an 18-3 advantage on penalty corners.
 
The Knights will be back in action next Saturday when they host a Commonwealth Conference match against Albright College. The match will get under way at noon at Easton Field.
