Box Score SCRANTON, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team scored the first 10 goals of the game as it opened the 2014 season with a 12-4 non-conference victory at Marywood University Saturday afternoon. It was the first game of the year for both teams.
Freshman midfielder
Erin Misner (Westhampton, N.J.) scored the first of her game-high seven goals 5:20 into the game to put the Knights ahead, and junior midfielder
Jaclyn Feffer (Montgomery, N.Y.) followed with a pair of goal in a span of just over two minutes that gave Arcadia a 3-0 lead 10 minutes in. Misner added two more goals in the first half, while senior attack
Sara Volk-Perez (Mays Landing, N.J.) scored her first of the season, giving the Knights a commanding 6-0 halftime lead.
Misner scored three of the first four goals of the second half, with the other coming from senior attack
Jenna Crothers (Patchogue, N.Y.), before the Pacers finally got on the board with a tally from senior midfielder Kimberley Commisso (Milford, Pa.) with 10:28 left in the game. It was the first of her two goals in the match.
Junior midfielder
Catherine Brown (Howell, N.J.) found the back of the net with 8:02 remaining in the game for the Knights, and Misner capped the scoring for Arcadia 17 seconds later, giving the Knights a 12-2 lead with 7:45 left on the clock.
Sophomore goalie
Jordyn Dunacusky (Conshohocken, Pa.) tallied seven saves while allowing four goals to earn her first win of the season in net for Arcadia, while freshman goalie Lauren Smith (Lansdale, Pa.) took the loss after giving up all 12 goals with eight saves for Marywood.
Arcadia held a 22-15 advantage in shots and secured 13 of 20 draw controls in the game. The Pacers had a 25-17 advantage on ground balls.
The Knights will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Neumann University for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest.
