HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-5 non-conference decision at Stevens Institute of Technology Wednesday night, dropping the Knights' record to 9-5 on the season with their third straight setback. The Ducks improved to 9-3 with the win.
Arcadia opened the scoring on the first of freshman
Nicole Hutson's two goals four minutes into the game, but Stevens took over from there, going on a six goal run over the next 12 minutes to take the lead for good. Senior Caitlyn Hughes scored three straight during that run, while sophomore Kathleen Kalbian scored what proved to be the game-winner to cap the surge with 13:35 left in the first half.
The Ducks led 8-3 at the break and grew that advantage with a three-goal run to open the second half. Stevens later closed the game with a four-goal run after the teams traded scores in the middle stages of the period.
Junior
Dawn Faranetta and Hutson scored two goals each for Arcadia, while sophomore
Erin Misner added one goal. Junior
Jordyn Dunacusky took the loss after recording just four saves while allowing 13 goals in 40 minutes, while freshman
Liz Stierle allowed the final four goals of the game in the last 20 minutes of the contest.
Freshman Julianna Ricci scored a game-high four goals for the Ducks, while Kalbian finished with three goals and two assists for a game-high five points. Junior Erika Wilcox also had a five-point night, scoring two goals and setting up three others.
Arcadia will return home Saturday to host a 1 p.m. Commonwealth Conference matchup against Hood College.
