Benites Nets Game-Winner in Overtime, Women’s Lacrosse downs Neumann, 14-13

ASTON, Pa. – Sophomore Allegra Benites scored 2:37 into overtime to give the Arcadia University women's lacrosse team 14-13 non-conference victory at Neumann University Tuesday, improving its record to 2-1 for the season. Neumann fell to 1-1 for the year.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Junior Erin Misner scored 1:50 into the game with the first goal of the contest, which proved to be Arcadia's only lead until Benites netted the game-winner. Arcadia was down 11-9 at the half and trailed 13-11 following Rebecca Dolenti's goal with 11:14 to go in the second half. Senior Dawn Faranetta brought AU back within one off a feed from Benites five minutes later, and Benites knotted the score at 13-all with 1:01 remaining in regulation. Faranetta then setup Benites' game winner with 23 seconds left in the first portion of the extra frame.
 
LEADING ARCADIA: Faranetta scored a game-high five goals with two assists for the Scarlet and Grey, while Benites totaled four goals, two assists, five draw controls and three ground balls. Misner also finished the game with four goals.
 
LEADING NEUMANN: Dolenti led Neumann with four goals on the afternoon, while Jordan Hopkins registered a game-high 14 draw controls to go with her three-goal performance. Diana Caicedo also found the back of the net three times.
 
IN GOAL: Senior Jordyn Dunacusky totaled 13 saves to earn the decision in goal for Arcadia, improving her record to 2-1 for the year. Becca Wallace totaled 16 saves in taking the loss for Neumann.
 
FREE PASS: Arcadia secured the win despite converting just four of its 15 free position attempts in the game. Neumann was 5 for 8 on its free position attempts, with Dolenti going 3 for 3.
