Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Opens Home Stand with 2-1 Setback against DeSales

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey team led 1-0 at the half but couldn't hang on as visiting DeSales University rallied for a 2-1 non-conference win Thursday night at Easton Field. The Bulldogs improved to 2-4 as they snapped a four-game slide, while the Knights fell to 0-6 following their fourth one-goal loss of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Arcadia controlled the play for most of the first half, and jumped out to a 1-0 lead as freshman Kyra Minchak's tapped home sophomore Gabby Sedares' shot from the top of the circle at the left post for the first goal of her collegiate career in the 23rd-minute. That lead stood until Kylie Honnick-Payne tipped the ball in at the right post in the 52nd-minute, which was followed by Chelsea DeFrancisco's game-winning tip-in at the left post in the 58th-minute for the 2-1 final.

The Knights put the pressure on after going down 2-1 with six penalty corners leading to six shots, but were unable to get the equalizer before time expired.

IN GOAL: Katarina Polyviou registered four saves to improve her record to 2-4 for DeSales, while senior Brittany Hodson totaled three stops in taking the loss for the Knights.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia had a 5-2 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge on penalty corners in the first half to help them take the early lead on the scoreboard. The second half saw DeSales have an 8-6 advantage in shots and a 10-7 advantage on corners.
