OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team fell in three set at Stevenson University Tuesday night in a MAC Commonwealth match. The Mustangs improved to 12-7 overall and 4-0 in MAC Commonwealth action, while the Knights fell to 5-10 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The lead changed hands throughout the opening set, which saw Arcadia use a five-point run to open a 22-21 lead before Stevenson closed it out with a 4-1 rally to win game-one 25-23. The Mustangs jumped out to leads of 9-3 and 9-4 in the second and third set on their way to winning both by a count of 25-18.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Freshman
Shannon Ryan totaled five kills, four digs, three blocks and two aces, while senior
MaKenna Micklus also recorded five kills with two digs. Junior setter
Colleen Stengel had 19 assists, while freshman
Emily Eng notched a match-high 19 digs.
STEVENSON LEADERS: Annika Schwartz scored a match-high 15 kills with seven digs while hitting 27-percent, while Moriah Savage added nine kills and hit 44 percent. Sarah Bollinger had 19 assists and five dugs, while Julie Nightwine added 13 assists with a match-high five aces.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Stevenson outscored Arcadia 52-34 in the match, with a 39-23 advantage in kills and a 9-5 edge in service aces. Arcadia held a 6-4 margin in blocks. The Mustangs offense was consistent throughout the match as they hit 20-percent. The Knights hit 23 percent in the first game, but fell off in the second and third as they recorded as many errors as kills.
