Women’s Basketball Falls 63-52 at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's basketball team dropped a 63-52 decision at Lebanon Valley Wednesday night. The Knights fell to 6-16 on the season and 2-11 in conference play, while the Dutchmen improved to 11-12 overall and 8-6 in the MAC Commonwealth.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Following a layup from senior Maureen Fiocca that put Arcadia in front 14-13 with 4:18 to go in the opening quarter, the hosts took control with a 15-5 run over the next 9:57 to jump out to a 28-19 lead with less than five minute to go before halftime. The Scarlet and Grey went on to cut the deficit to two by half's end after Fiocca and sophomore Olivia Roseman combined for the half's final seven points to make the score 32-30 at the break.
 
Fiocca netted 13 points as part of a 16-10 Knight run that consumed the entire third quarter and the opening 2:11 of the fourth to put the Scarlet and Grey in front 46-42, however the hosts closed the game out by outscoring Arcadia 21-6 over the final 7:42.
 
ARCADIA LEADERS: Fiocca led all scorers with 26 points on 11-22 shooting from the floor, while also leading the team in rebounds (6) and assists (4). Sophomore Susan Bossler contributed nine points on 4-8 shooting.
 
LEBANON VALLEY LEADERS: Lexie Lantz led the way with 18 points, and was joined in double figures by Anne Lehr (14) and Hilary Yoh (12). Yoh, along with Jasmine Copeland, posted a game-high eight rebounds, and Becky Evans led all players with six assists.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Knights shot 40.7% (22-54) from the floor, including 3-14 from distance, while going 5-9 at the charity stripe. The Dutchmen converted 26-69 (37.7%) from the floor, and 3-11 from three, while going 8-10 at the free throw line. The hosts took advantage of turnovers, outscoring the Knights 26-14, while controlling the paint by a 42-26 margin.
