ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team fell for the first time this season, dropping a 20-5 non-conference decision at Muhlenberg College.
FOR THE RECORD: The Mules evened their record at 1-1 with the victory, while the Knights fell to 2-1 in following their first game away from Jean Lenox West Field this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights led 3-2 in the early going thanks to a pair of goals from senior
Erin Misner and a tally from junior
Marie Brockman. Stephanie D'Ascoli tied the game at 3-3 11 minutes in, and in doing so started a seven-goal surge that put Muhlenberg in front for good. The Mules led 12-4 at the half and outscored Arcadia 8-1 in the second.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Misner finished the game with two goals, three draw controls and two groundballs, while Brockman also finished with two goals and picked up a pair of draw controls. Freshman
Shannon Ryan added one goal with one assist.
MUHLENBERG LEADERS: Nora Fisher had a game-high six points on three goals and three assists, while Jordy Bonvini and Amanda Tullo each had three goals and two assists. D'Ascoli finished with three goals and one helper.
IN GOAL: Sara Allison went the distance in goal for the Mules to pick up the win, totaling four saves. Junior
Liz Stierle fell to 2-1 for the Knights after allowing 17 goals with six saves in 56 minutes. Freshman
Molly Naylor closed out the final 4:17 for Arcadia, allowing three goals.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Muhlenberg outshot Arcadia 34-21 in the game and had a 26-9 advantage in shots on goal, Draw controls favored the Mules 22-5.
