Baseball Seeded Second at New England Regional, Faces No. 7 Worcester State May 18

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Tournament Selection Committee announced that the Arcadia University baseball team will be seeded second at the 2017 New England Regional Championship, which will take place at Whitehouse Field in Harwich, Massachusetts. The Knights will open the NCAA tournament with a first round game against seventh-seeded Worcester State University (MASCAC) May 18 at 8 p.m.
 
TICKET INFORMATION: General admission for each game will be $3.00. All-Tournament passes will be sold for $30.00, but are only available for sale May 18.
 
LIVE EVENT COVERAGE: Live video and live stats coverage will be available for each game of the New England Regional. Links will be posted when available.
 
THE NCAA FIELD: The playoff field consists of 56 teams, 41 of which received an automatic/Pool A bid after winning their respective conference championships. The two Pool B and 13 at-large/Pool C bids were determined by the national selection committee.
 
THE REGIONAL FIELD: UMass Boston (Little East) is the No. 1 seed in the New England Regional, and will open with eighth-seeded Penn State Berks (NEAC). The other opening round matchups feature No. 3 St. John Fisher College (Empire 8) against Suffolk University (GNAC) and No. 4 Salve Regina University (Commonwealth Coast) versus No. 5 Babson (NEWMAC).
 
ARCADIA IN THE POLLS: The Knights received votes and a national ranking for the first time over 10 year in 2017. In the most recent polls (released May 9), Arcadia is ranked 29th by the American Baseball Coaches Association Poll and is receiving votes in the D3Baseball.com poll.
 
ARCDIA IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT: The marks the second-ever NCAA tournament appearance for Arcadia's baseball program, and is its first since 2004 after securing an automatic berth by winning the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference title. The Knights went 2-2 at the 2004 Mid-Atlantic Regional in Boyertown, Pennsylvania. Arcadia fell to Rowan 3-2 before posting an 8-7 win over Juniata and a 10-9 win over DeSales. The Knights were then eliminated by John Hopkins, 7-3.
 
ARCADIA WINS FIRST-EVER MACC TITLE: The Knights went a perfect 3-0 at the 2017 MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament to claim the program's first league title joining the conference in 2009. Second-seeded Arcadia opened with a 7-3 win over third-seeded Widener before recording a pair of 8-4 wins over top-seeded Alvernia. Arcadia senior catcher Jordan Draude was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after going 6 for 10 with one double, one home run, five RBIs and four runs scored.
 
ARCADIA SETS WINS RECORD: The 2017 squad set the program record for wins in a season with an 18-6 win at Gwynedd Mercy May 9th to close the regular season, which at the time gave the Knights a 29-11 record. Arcadia enters the NCAA tournament with a record of 32-11.  
 
TORRESANI NAMED MACC COACH OF THE YEAR: First-year head coach Bryan Torresani was named the 2017 MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year after leading the Knights to a second-place finish in the conference standings and a program-record 29 wins during the regular season. Arcadia was picked to finish fifth in the conference's preseason coaches' poll.
 
FOUR KNIGHTS NAMED TO ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM: Arcadia had four All-MAC Commonwealth selections in 2017. Senior catcher Jordan Draude, junior designated hitter Nick Cardace and sophomore right fielder Bryan Gillen earned First-Team honors, while senior shortstop Justin Chasmar was a Second-Team pick. This was the third straight all-conference selection for Chasmar, who received Honorable Mention the previous two years, while Draude was named a First-Team selection for the second consecutive year. This was the first all-conference selection for Cardace and Gillen
