ANNVILLE, Pa. – A second half comeback comes up short as the Arcadia women's basketball team fell to Lebanon Valley, 72-60, Wednesday night on the road. The Knights finished with three players in double figures, led by sophomore
Sydney Cyr with 15.
FOR THE RECORD:
- The Knights even out their record at 7-7, and move to 2-4 in the conference.
- Lebanon Valley advanced to 9-7 on the season, with a 4-3 record in the MAC Commonwealth.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights battled to find their groove in the first quarter, as the Dutchmen finished the frame up, 23-9. Junior Camille Menns led the Knights, picking up five of the teams nine points.
- In the second stanza, Arcadia started on a 4-0 run over the first 2:15, seeing a bucket from freshman Kylie Fischer and a pair of free throws from sophomore Courtney Hoffman.
- Lebanon Valley responded with a 7-0 run of its own to push the lead to 17 with 3:58 left in the half. The Knights hit three-straight free throws to cut the deficit back to 14. Another pair of scores from the charity stripe ended Arcadia's second quarter offense with the Dutchmen up, 36-18.
- Out of the break, the Scarlet and Grey chipped away at the Dutchmen's lead with an 11-8 run through the first 4:22. Over the span, sophomore Taylor Dunn dropped her first six points of the contest.
- Shortly after, Arcadia picked up another run, this time 8-3 over a 3:59 span with Dunn scoring four. Over the final 1:10 of the period, Lebanon Valley scored four straight free throws before Fischer would convert an and one opportunity to end the third with the Dutchmen up, 53-40.
- The Knights kept the momentum going in the final frame, starting on a 13-7 run over the first 7:02 of the final stanza, seeing eight from Cyr and five from Fischer. Ultimately, the comeback fell short as Lebanon Valley came out on top, 74-60.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Joining Cyr in double digits was Dunn (13) and Fischer (12).
- As a team, the Knights shot 41.8% from the floor on 23-of-55 shooting, with an impressive 58% in the second half (18-of-31).
- Arcadia posted four blocks in the game, opposing Lebanon Valley's one.
GAME NOTES:
- Dunn has scored in double figures in eight straight games and 11-of-14 on the season.
- Fischer's 12 points is the second highest of her career (14 against DeSales 11/29/17).
