Two Double-Doubles and Four Scorers in Double Figures Leads Women’s Basketball Past Hood for Second Straight Win

FREDERICK, Md. – With double-doubles from freshman Taylor Fritz (10 points, 12 rebounds) and junior Camille Menns (12 points, 14 rebounds), the Knights cruised past Hood, 73-58, Saturday afternoon. Leading all scorers was sophomore Taylor Dunn with 23 points, six ahead of classmate Sydney Cyr with 17 to put four Knights in double digits.

FOR THE RECORD:
  • Arcadia advanced to 7-5 on the season and 2-3 in MAC Commonwealth play.
  • The Blazers fell to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the conference. 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights took a commanding 14-4 run, starting with 12-straight points to complete the first quarter. During the frame, Dunn scored six points and Arcadia forced six Blazer turnovers.
  • Much like the first stanza, the Knights started hot out of the gate to commence the second. Arcadia took a 15-3 run over the first 5:05 to extend the team's lead to 22. Over the rest of the half, Hood chipped away at the deficit, but the Knights still led 37-19 at the break.
  • The quick starts continued in the third as the Scarlet and Grey raced out to a 19-9 run over the first 7:04 of the quarter to put itself up 28 points, the largest lead of the day. Four different scorers contributed to the run with Dunn leading the way with seven points. Menns, Cyr, and Fritz all added four each. The Knights took a 56-34 lead into the final frame.
  • The final stanza was back-and-forth for most of the quarter until Hood established a 10-0 run in the middle of the stanza to cut the deficit to 15. The Knights remained resilient, shutting down the comeback and pulling away with the victory. During the final period, Cyr picked up nine points for the Knights, including going 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Sophomore Jamie Manzo added eight points for the Knights on 3-of-5 shooting from the floor and 1-of-1 from the line.
  • The Knights worked the glass, out rebounding the Blazers 49-40.
  • Arcadia forced an impressive 24 turnovers in the game, which led to 28 points for the Scarlet and Grey.
  • As a team, the Knights led the game for 36:30, not allowing the Blazers to step in front at all.
GAME NOTES:
  • Fritz's double-double marks the first of her young career, including a career-high 12 rebounds.
  • Menns' 14 boards tie a career-high set against Wesley (11/26/17) and Rosemont (12/16/17).
  • This was Menns' seventh double-double on the season.
  • The win puts the Knights on a two-game win streak.

  • The Knights return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Lebanon Valley to continue conference play. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. from Annville.
