Ryan's Five Goals Leads Women's Lacrosse in Dominant Win Over Immaculata, 17-4

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Sophomore Shannon Ryan lead all scorers with five goals as women's lacrosse rolled past Immaculata, 17-4.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • Arcadia evens out its record at 1-1 on the year.
  • Immaculata dips to 0-1 to start the season.
COACH SAYS:
  • "Our mission for today's game was to play together and that is exactly what we did," said first year head women's lacrosse coach Sam Hosford. "The team effort on the field really showed and I believe that is why we were able to be so successful for the first win of the season."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights dominated the first half, seeing a 10-1 lead at the end of the frame. During the period, the Scarlet and Grey saw Ryan score the opening goal unassisted. Just 41 seconds later, senior Marie Brockman took a feed from sophomore Julia Imbert that found the back of the net. Senior Nicole Hutson saw a pass from sophomore Jess Kaye for the third goal for the Knights. The next Arcadia goal came on a free position from sophomore Victoria Mollitor. Senior Allegra Benites netted the following goal unassisted. Ryan delivered the next score for the Knights on an assist from Mollitor. A mere 37 seconds later, Imbert contributed an unassisted goal to the Knights total. The half ended on back-to-back unassisted goals, first from Ryan, followed by freshman Michaela Ferlow.
  • Arcadia continued the dominance in the second stanza, finishing the game on top, 17-4. Ryan started the scoring by burying an unassisted goal to grow the Knights lead. A little over two minutes later, Kaye took a dish from Hutson that found the back of the net. Ryan followed up with her fifth goal on the day, this time on an assist from Hutson. The next two goals came on free position attempts, one from Mollitor and one from Brockman. The final two goals of the game came from Hutson, one assisted by Ferlow and the other by Brockman.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • In net, sophomore Veandra Selby picked up her first win on the year, making four saves.
  • As a team, the Knights registered 24 points.
  • Defensively, Hutson forced seven turnovers and picked up seven ground balls.
  • Brockman aided on the defensive end, causing five turnovers with three ground balls.
GAME NOTES:
  • The victory marks the first career win for Hosford.
  • Hutson's five points ties her career high.
  • Ryan's five goals ties her career mark.
  • Ferlow's goal and assist are the first in her young career.

  • Arcadia is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Marywood for a 12 p.m. start.
