Women's Lacrosse Falls in Overtime Thriller Against Marywood

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia women's lacrosse team fell to Marywood Sunday afternoon in nail-biting fashion, 10-9, in overtime.

FOR THE RECORD:
  • Arcadia dips to 1-2 on the season.
  • The Pacers advance to 2-1 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first half saw a neck and neck game, ending all squared away at 6-6. The Knights hit the scoreboard first as sophomore Shannon Ryan ripped a free position shot to put the Scarlet and Grey up, 1-0. After two goals from the Pacers, Arcadia responded with two straight goals to take the advantage, 3-2. The first score came from sophomore Julia Imbert who netted her fourth of the season on an assist from senior Nicole Hutson. About seven minutes later, sophomore Victoria Mollitor buried a free position shot. After Marywood responded to tie the game at three apiece, senior Allegra Benites saw a feed from Ryan that she was able to drive past the goalkeeper. The Knights finished the half on a 2-1 run, responding to a Pacers' rally. Mollitor took a pass from Ryan to find the back of the cage. Arcadia's second goal came from Ryan on a free position.
  • The second frame was similar to the first, seeing both teams score the same number of goals to end regulation tied, 9-9. The Knights started the action with senior Marie Brockman utilizing a free position to capture her third goal of the season. After the visitors capitalized with two straight, the home squad had back-to-back scores, coming from Imbert and Hutson. Imbert's was unassisted and Hutson's came on a free position.
  • Overtime was quick, seeing the visitors take the game winner 14 seconds into the frame.
