ASTON, Pa. – The Arcadia baseball team swept Elizabethtown in a doubleheader to open the 2019 season on Saturday.

In game one, the Knights scored in each of the first four innings, to defeat the Bluejays 11-2.
In the bottom of the first with the bases loaded,
Bryan Gillen scored from third on an error by Elizabethtown, to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
Dylan Towey then singled to left field, which drove in two runs, and gave AU a 3-0 lead.
Anthony Zupito followed that up with a sacrifice fly to right field, which allowed
Zak Thomas to score, making the score 4-0 after one.
After
Jeremy Sabathne retired the side in the top of the second, Arcadia extended its lead in the bottom of the inning. With runners on first and second,
Trevor Mattson doubled to center field, which scored two runs and to increase the Knights' lead to 6-0.
Arcadia added two more runs in the bottom of the third.
Nick Ponente and Zupito both scored on an error by Elizabethtown, which made the score 8-0 after three.
Arcadia added to its total in the next inning. With runners on the corners, Towey singled to right field to drive in a run. Zupito then hit a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing ZAK Thomas to score, giving the Knights a 10-0 lead.
Elizabethtown got on the board in the top of the sixth. Derek Manning scored from third on an Arcadia error, and JT Thompson then singled to center field, to drive in another run. The two runs were all the Knights allowed in the inning, taking a 10-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth.
The Knights added another run in the bottom of the sixth, and closed out the Bluejays in the seventh for the victory.
Mattson was 4 for 4 at the plate, with two runs scored and two RBIs and Towey went 3 for 3 with three RBIs in the win.
On the mound, Sabathne threw 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with five strikeouts.

In game two, the Knights took an early lead in the bottom of the first. Gillen led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a failed pickoff attempt. Later,
Josh Fulmer singled through the left side which allowed Gillen to move to third. Gillen would later score on a single from Mattson and Fulmer scored on a Towey sacrifice fly to right field, to give Arcadia a 2-0 lead after one.
Elizabethtown made the game a one-run contest in the top of the fourth inning. Mike Christy doubled to left center, and Manning scored from second, to trim Arcadia's lead to 2-1.
Arcadia made the game a two-run affair in the bottom of the fifth. With Gillen on second, Fulmer singled through the left side, allowing Gillen to score and give the Knights a 3-1 lead.
The Knights held the Bluejays scoreless the rest of the way.
Mitch Blake came on in relief in the seventh, picking up the save for AU.
Mattson was 3 for 3 from the plate in game two, with one RBI and Gillen was 2 for 3 with two runs scored.
Joel Bartoni tossed 6.0 innings for Arcadia, allowing one run on one hit, and striking out five, picking up the win.
