Men's Basketball Drops Heartbreaker to Stevens in Conference Opener

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's basketball team dropped its tightly-contested Middle Atlantic Conference opener versus Stevens, 77-70, on Wednesday night. 

Justin Money led the Knights with 17 points on 6-for-7 shooting, while JoHaan Vinson added a season-best 16 points, which included several high-leverage buckets. Jalen Watkins and DJ Gardner also contributed double-figures with 11 points, respectively. Watkins grabbed 12 rebounds as he tallied his third double-double of the season for the Knights.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights took their first lead of the quarter after a Money three-pointer with 14:09 left in the opening half. The Ducks then responded with a 12-3 run, which lasted over six minutes, as they built their lead to eight points, 26-18.

- Gardner helped bring the Knights back within one point after draining a much-needed triple with 2:46 remaining. Moments later, Arcadia tied the game on a Money free throw with 57-seconds remaining. Stevens ended the half on a 6-2 run as they added two three-pointers in the closing minute of the half, 37-33.

- After Money opened the second half with a three-pointer, Stevens responded with a 10-2 run that was capped off by a pair from long range. Gardner answered the call with another three-pointer as Arcadia pulled within six points, 47-41, with 14:52 left. 

- Money drained a corner three-pointer to pull the Knights within four points at the 6:57 mark. The Knights remained within striking distance as Vinson went coast-to-coast with a steal and a layup to pull his squad within two points with 3:20 remaining in regulation. 

- Moments later, Vinson got the Knights within one point following an acrobatic, and-one layup with 1:52 left. However, Stevens answered with a pair of timely three-pointers as they held onto their slim advantage.
