Men’s Basketball Locks Down Aggies in Strong Defensive Performance

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's basketball team won its first game of the season with a dominant victory over Delaware Valley University, 83-57, on Wednesday night.

Jalen Watkins stuffed the stat sheet with an outstanding performance on both ends of the floor. The junior tallied 16 points, with 17 rebounds and five blocks as the Knights held the Aggies to a season-low 57 points. 

Samuel Majekodunmi led the Knights offense with 18 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists. JoHaan Vinson also joined Majekodunmi and Watkins in double figures with 17 points. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Aggies jumped out to an early 13-7 lead before the Knights responded with 18 unanswered points. Nas Johnson and Justin Money opened the run with back-to-back threes, while Dom Vazquez and Gabe Kier also added triples during Arcadia's rally. The Knights ended the run with a 25-13 lead to pull ahead by 12 points with 8:26 remaining in the half.

- Delaware Valley trimmed its deficit to four points with a 6-0 run. The Knights added to its lead with an 8-3 run in the final 1:30 of the first half to take a nine-point advantage into the locker room, 41-32. 

- After the Aggies pulled within seven points, the Knights distanced themselves with an 18-8 run to pull ahead by 19 points. The Knights rally was capped off by back-to-back buckets from Watkins and Kier, before Majekodunmi knocked down a three-pointer to force an Aggies timeout, 61-42.

- Following the Aggies timeout, the Knights pulled away with a 7-0 run. Watkins and Vinson added back-to-back buckets, while Majekodunmi connected on a three-point play with 6:49 left in the half, 68-42.
