CHESTER, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team opened the 2024 season with a 10-7 defeat at Widener University in non-conference play on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights struck first with an unassisted goal by
Sarah Morris, before Widener went on a three goal scoring streak to end the first quarter.
- Widener then opened the second quarter with another three unanswered goals, but Morris and
Kylla Henry each notched another for the Knights before the half.
Gianna DiNofa assisted Morris, while
Tessa O'Donnell assisted Henry.
- The Knights trailed 6-3 at halftime.
- Widener outscored the Knights 4-2 in the third quarter. Arcadia's goals were scored bu
Juliane Calalo and
Mackenzie Clark, both unassisted.
- Calalo scored the only two goals in the fourth, earning herself a hat trick with only one minute remaining in the game.
- Goalkeeper
Emily Griffith saved Widener's only shot on goal in the fourth quarter to keep the score of the second half tied 4-4.
