QUANTICO, Md. – The Arcadia University men's golf team returned to the course to compete in the Sea Gull Invitational, hosted by Salisbury University at Green Hill Country Club. After the opening round, the Knights sit in fifth place out of 10 teams with a score of 329 (+41). Green Hill is a par-72 course playing 6,631 yards.
Frankie Sass led the way for Arcadia, carding a 7-over 79 to sit in a tie for seventh place.
Sass opened with a 3-over 39 on the front nine, highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 first hole. He added five pars on the front before posting a 4-over 40 on the back nine, where he recorded five more pars.
Nicky Antonelli finished second for the Knights with a 9-over 81, placing him in a tie for 14th. After opening with a double bogey, Antonelli settled in with five consecutive pars on his way to a 6-over 42 on the front nine. He followed with a steady 3-over 39 on the back, recording six pars.
Hayden Williamson carded a 12-over 84 and is tied for 23rd. He posted a 5-over 41 on the front nine with two pars and a birdie on the par-5 sixth hole. On the back, Williamson shot a 43, adding three pars and another birdie on the par-4 13th.
Justin Madden rounded out the team scoring with a 13-over 85, tying for 28th. He recorded a 43 on the front nine with four pars and followed with a 6-over 42 on the back, also tallying four pars.
Tony Antonelli finished with a 14-over 86 and is tied for 34th, though his score did not count toward the team total. He shot an 8-over 44 on the front nine with three pars and added three more pars on the back before closing with a birdie on the par-4 17th for a 42.
The Salisbury "B" team leads the field at 30-over, three strokes ahead of Capital. Salisbury "A" sits in third at 34-over, followed by Alvernia at 40-over, just one stroke ahead of Arcadia. Russell Sage and Capital "B" are tied for sixth at 43-over, while Lycoming, Alvernia "B," and SUNY Cobleskill round out the standings.
